DEEP IN THE HART

Our life is full. We have been GRADUATING FROM THE 25TH GRADE (aka residency.. more on this later), to Wichita, all over Kansas City, pools, splash parks, libraries, lunch dates with friends, play dates, farms, swim meets, 4th of July parties, riding in KG's first parade, crying over fear of Mickey Mouse....the first character she's ever seen in real life, watching fireworks (with ear protection:) for the first time, BITING (I have THAT kid just ask my dear forgiving friend), playing bean bag toss (also known as corn hole), skyping with family, eating on the patio, hosting out of town friends, playing in sprinklers, riding on "Henry" the electric horse at the grocery store, saturday trips to the farmers market, gardening, harvesting a TON of veggies, playing with rocks, jumping in bounce houses, wagon rides, living in a hot house when the upstairs AC went out, entertaining dear friends, saying hello to new friends and sad goodbyes to others, eating corn on the cob (First time for KG), playing with neighbors, playing with neighbors, and more playing with neighbors. Our half of the cul-de-sac has 12 kids 5 and under.... it's a total blast. As I said, our life is full. I'm really grateful for the every day ways we get to teach Katelyn about Jesus just by enjoying this city.

Tim's graduation from residency was amazing. The ceremony was extremely sentimental and special as the whole department took an evening and honored all three of the graduates. Tim's parents and my Mom came in town for a surprise visit... they didn't want to miss the special occasion! Residency was hard. It was hard for Tim (D-U-H), it was hard for me, it was hard on our family. Tim persevered through some incredibly difficult days, situations and exams. He sacrificed more than I could ever understand in the last four years. He left a great legacy that I'm really proud of at KU Eye. Now we're on to the next chapter. The last chapter of his education per se. That's right, Tim is in year 9 of 9 post college in his medical journey to become a pediatric ophthalmologist (children's eye surgeon). His first week and a half at Children's Mercy has been great. He LOVES pediatrics and is thrilled by his decision to pursue this specialty and be trained by the staff at Mercy. We are blessed. I may have made fun of Tim for planting 5 rows of corn in our backyard in addition to the potato field, 10+ pepper plants, 10+ tomato plants, every herb around, zucchini, butternut squash, cucumbers etc. BUT.... I'm sure enjoying the harvest :)
